Upload and Share files with Facebook friends with DivShare

Many a times, we need to share or send some files to friends on Facebook. The files may be in form of a video, image, an audio file or some documents. Though, there are many hosting services available where you can upload the files and share link with your friends, but when such a service is available within Facebook, you don’t need to upload them anywhere else!

Divshare is such an application that lets you store files upto 5 gb and download upto 10 gb is allowed. You can upload images, videos, audio or documents upto 200 mb per file. And the app keeps a record of the files uploaded by you in a separate folder, which you can access directly through dashboard or sometimes using the User-ID provided by the app.

Using the simple steps, you can share with any of your Facebook friends-

Before you can use the app, you need to add the app to your profile. Add Divshare application to your profile.

Once you add the app, you will be redirected to the Member Dashboard, that contains files uploaded by you(if any). You can see the User-ID for your account on the top right corner of the app user interface. It has been highlighted in the the pic.

Upload files by clicking “Upload a new file” button on top-right corner.

Once uploaded, you can add friends who you want to share the files with. You can even publish the uploaded file on your wall, that will make it public, for all friends to access and download.

Although there are other apps also available, like Flash Attach that uses flash interface and FilesAnywhere Application, but DivShare is the best among them as per my personal experience. And also, it offers much more space than the other two apps.

If you are a FavmVille addict and checks your farm again and again for harvesting fully grown crops. Now you don’t need to do so cuz you can track your farm using the official toolbar of FarmVille by Zynga, the company who created FarmVille, Cafe World FishVille and Mafia Wars.

Now you can track your bonus points, get the latest updates from FarmVille’s official blog and check the time when your crops will be ready to harvest with a single toolbar. Well not only this, the FarmVille toolbar has an inbuilt search bar powered by Yahoo. You can also choose game between FarmVille and Mafia Wars (another popular game by Zynga).

How to Install?

To install this toolbar use this link.(http://toolbar.zynga.com/install/farmville/).
Connect your facebook profile with it.
Click on install.
Finally click on allow (on the top right of your window) and download the toolbar.
Restart your browser.

But few things you have to consider before installing this toolbar.(Advantages and Disadvantages)

This toolbar is compatible with Firefox 2+ versions only.
This toolbar is very heavy (approx. 700 KB) as compared to other toolbars we use in Firefox. So obviously this will make your browser little slow.
This toolbar has a link of Facebook inbox which is good.
This toolbar seems to be a way of making Zynga and FarmVille more popular rather than making FarmVille more convenient for users, unnecessary links of forum and other games shows it all.
You can disable some features of this toolbar by selecting ‘Toolbar Options’ after right clicking on it.

Well all I want to say about this toolbar is that this is meant for real FarmVille addicts, it’s quite useless for others. The purpose of making this toolbar is to keep people reminding about their Farm so that they will return again and again.

Now upload bigger photos to facebook with more pixels

Facebook finally launches the resizing of photos officially. Now every time you upload a photo on Facebook you will see a bigger image with better pixels and hence better quality. In January Facebook made an announcement regarding this resizing of picture feature including resizing of profile pictures. But now Facebook started larger photo option on most of the profiles and will launch it completely soon. So if you are not able to use this feature just wait for few time. Hopefully they will launch the same feature for profile pictures soon.

This new feature will allow you to upload a photo of 720 pixels which is 20 percent larger than the previous upload option. Obviously this will make Facebook more interesting cuz it’s still the largest photo sharing website worldwide. But whether people like this feature or not, it’s clear that Facebook is still the number one social networking website in the world and no one can take this in near future.

Facebook Updated the new design and they named this project internally as Titan project. Any one who can see Facebook new interface can easily figure out lots of changes at one go. The major difference in new interface is accessibility. On Internet world, less click means more page views and more time on Site. In the new Facebook design, designers focused more on reach ability from one tab to another with less clicks.

For example in Previous version of Facebook we need to go to message tabs to see all the unread messaged and similarly for Friend request. In latest design, this can be done from home page of Facebook.

More Space for Facebook Chat :

To be honest, I don’t like Facebook chat because its slow and always disconnect in slow broadband speed. Though this is about new design and latest facebook design has given the same right bottom bar space but made it less cluttered.

One significant thing added by facebook is Friend online feature on the left hand side. You can quickly click on the name and start chatting.

Bottom Bar Moved to Left sidebar

Another major noticeable difference is removal of bottom bar and moved it to left sidebar. This will give more space for applications .

In my opinion the new interface is designed to make Facebook more interactive.

If you are a blogger and a have a facebook account the one question you might be stuck with is; What should you do with your Facebook profile? When I joined rtBlogs as an Editor I thought that maybe I should have two facebook accounts. One personal and the other for bloggers who might want to connect.

I started adding bloggers who I thought I might want to connect with on Facebook and let me say I was a bit disappointed. In most cases I a blogger’s facebook profile seemed to not really differ much from the Facebook page of his blog. It was disappointing and I decided to not go in for creating a separate Facebook profile for my blogging activities. With new privacy options I guess I don’t really have to worry about the privacy angle either.

Why avoid a blog related Facebook profile?

If someone reading my blog takes the pains to find me on Facebook and add me should I disappoint him/her with a stream of links and feeds to my blog? If I added someone on Facebook the last thing I want is a RSS feed or a Twitter feed. I think I should be myself let the reader know the real me.

An argument against this could be if someone follows your blog on technology what does he care for about your favorite videos of a rock-band you out up on Facebook. My counter-point is why would that person add me on Facebook? He could just be a fan of the blog page on Facebook.

What works on Twitter might not work in Facebook

What might work on Twitter where people can have followers in the thousands might not work on Facebook. For instance if I post a link to my blog to 2000 followers chances are about 3 to 5percent of them will actually visit. But Twitter is known as a medium to exchange links. Facebook is not all about sharing links or feeds. It has a little more personality than Twitter with applications, photos and your wall where you can share anything from videos to your random thoughts. So be yourself on Facebook; your readers would probably appreciate it a lot more.

I want to know what do you think about it? Do you think a blogger should stick with being professional on Facebook and keep putting out a feed of his blog to his Facebook friends or should the blogger get real. I guess it’s really a personal decision on how much you want your blog to be your identity and vice-versa.

Facebook’s new retweet like ‘via’ feature is now active

You might be familiar with the share button of Facebook by which you can share any post on facebook posted by your friends, any group or a page. But the main disadvantage of this feature was that the original contributor was not shown with the shared content. Facebook has modified it a little and this new ‘via’ feature is now active which is just similar to the retweet button of twitter.

Now whenever you share something on Facebook by clicking on the share button you which see ‘via person’s name/group name/page name along with the original content in the pop-up shown while sharing.

Unlike retweet option, the best part of this via feature is that the original contributor’s name can be removed when not required. By using this via feature, the name of the person/group or page will be shown with the original post and proper link to the profile so that the actual person can be tracked easily.

FarmVille Collections is a new feature of FarmVille in which you can collect things like Gardening tool, bugs e.t.c. To collect these you have to play FarmVille and perform it’s various tasks that you usually do like Plowing, Harvesting, Fertilizing and Gifting items to your friends. These Collections can be found in your giftbox and to see your own collection click on the ‘Ribbons’ near your giftbox icon and select collections. However the purpose of these Collections is still not clear as there’s no official update from FarmVille blog.

Few points about New FarmVille Collections:

There are four types of collection:

Gardening Tools Collection
Country Kitsch Collection
Bug Collection
Feather Collection

To get these collections do your normal routine activites like harvesting, plowing, fertilizing, gifting, brushing animals e.t.c.
There are three common, two uncommon and one rare type of collection in each category.
New collections can be found in your gift-box.
To see all the collections collected by you click on Ribbon achievements and select Collections.

New collection will be shown by a pop-up above your neighbor’s list.

Three simple tricks of increasing XP/Level rapidly in FarmVille

If you are a FarmVille addict on Facebook then this is a must read post for all you guys. Every player who loves to play Farville must be eager to grow his/her experience (XP) and level rapidly but it’s quite difficult when you crosses 20th level as the XP gap increases more and more after that to reach to next level. All you need is to select good crop while planting seeds on your farm. Let me tell you which and how crops can help you in increasing your XP and hence level. Just read ther three tips given below to play FarmVille efficiently.

1.More planting area = More XP:

It’s always better to keep your plantation area as large as possible cuz that’s the main source of your XP. Collect some coins and buy 22X22 (largest) plantation area as soon as possible and try to give more area to plantation rather than decoration which you can do anytime once you reach a higher level. Also more plantation area will help you to earn more and more points. See the farm below which is having a total plantation area of around 450 blocks.

2. More Coin = More XP:

Try planting those crop which gives more coin while harvesting. You can collect those coins and buy something from them from the market which will increase your XP as well. Suppose you collected 150000 coins, you can buy a Farmhouse from them which will give you 1500 XP in return. The crops which gives more coins while harvesting with respect to their original cost are Strawberries, Eggplant, Wheat, Grapes e.t.c.

3. More time you spent = More XP you gain:

If you have lots of spare time to spent on FarmVille then try planting seeds of those crops which harvests in 4-6 hours and gives you an XP of at least one. That will help you to increase your XP in every 4-6 hours and again you can plow after that which will give you an XP of one again per plowing. Crops like this are Strawberries and Blueberries e.t.c.

So try using these FarmVille tips and don’t forget to tell us your FarmVille level.

If you use Facebook and have activated the “Email notifications” feature to receive emails for any comments on your status messages then you will probably love this feature. You can now comment on any of your status updates simply by replying to the Email notification that you receive from Facebook when your friends comment on it.

Reply to Comments via E-mail

Here’s a screenshot of an email notification I received from Facebook this morning:

I was excited to test this feature, following which, without waiting anymore I just hit the ‘reply’ button and sent a “test message” and what next? The same comment was published on the thread within seconds..

While I figure out few more things about this new feature, do keep enjoying it!
